Among the different issues dealt with, the operating rules governing these bodies were given a green light, and progress was made in defining the process of contracting the management of the plan and its dissemination system.

The project, with 3.5 million euro funding from LIFE European funds, whose beneficiary is the City council of Lugo, was approved in the year 2015. Thanks to this project, in the next four years novel initiatives will be developed in favour of a sustainable urbanism and of a better use of the forest resources, at a local and provincial level. The Steering Committee, and the Management and Monitoring Committees of the Lugo + Biodynamic project held a meeting this Friday in the Plenary Hall of the City Hall. In this session, a representative of Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) was incorporated as a member of the Steering Committee. This representative, as a beneficiary partner of the project, explained the planning of the future multi-ecological neighbourhood, emphasizing the possibilities of urban farming.

Composition of committees

The management committee of Lugo + Biodynamic is chaired over by the Mayor, Lara Méndez, including as well the Deputy of Sustainable Development and those of Economics, Social Welfare and Culture, Ana Prieto, Ana González Abelleira and Carmen Basadre respectively. In addition, there is a representative of the Diputación, one of the USC, one of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, two representatives of EVISLUSA (Municipal Company of Housing and Land), and an official who works as a secretary. The Monitoring Committee is composed by Daniel Piñeiro and representatives of the County Council, USC, UPM and EVISLUSA
