LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico visits LIFE Lungs in Lisbon
Within the promotional actions of LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico, we continue with the establishment and promotion of synergies with projects with which we have collaborated over the years. On November 29 and 30, we visited Lisbon to see first-hand the impact that the different actions that this initiative is developing throughout the city are having and, in addition, to publicize the progress of our project.
LIFE Lungs is based in Lisbon and its goals include adaptation of the city to different phenomena related to water, such as extreme precipitation, floods, scarcity and soil absorption; increasing carbon sequestration, promoting the creation of biodiverse dryland meadows and increasing tree cover; the creation of urban green infrastructures to mitigate the effects of heat waves, implementing solutions based on nature; bet on biodiversity, soil conservation and regulation of the water cycle by promoting citizen awareness. Among the activities of these two days of information exchange, a presentation was held in which Susana Penedo participated, municipal architect of the City Council of Lugo, as a representative of LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico.
This project promotes a series of actions that were already being developed since 2020, such as the improvement, installation and exploitation of biodiverse dryland meadows, the distribution of flocks of sheep as a non-mechanical urban agent for the control of vegetation and the soil conservation, a series of water management measures, the increase in the density of arboreal spaces along the urban green infrastructure of Lisbon and the transfer and replication of the results of the project, as does LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico.
