LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico brings together the project management and monitoring committees
Last Friday, September 28th, the quarterly meeting of control and monitoring of the LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico project was held at the Novas Tecnoloxías Center of the City Council of Lugo. In it, the Council of Lugo, the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Deputación de Lugo, coordinating partners of the project, analyzed the different advances that the project has completed so far.
The highlight of this meeting is the completion of the action on the As Gándaras Arboretum , which will end its planting phase in the coming weeks. In total, 15,000 trees of 60 different species will be planted on 14 hectares of public land in the area of As Gándaras. In addition, the opportunity was taken to comment on the new corporate identity of the project and the novelties that the redesign of the website provides.
LIFE Lugo + Biodinámico , a project of more than € 3,000,000 financed with European funds and coordinated by the City Council of Lugo, is developing a series of actions in the northern part of the city to transform Lugo and its environment. The initiatives that will be implemented up to 2020 will encompass a new sustainable urbanism, improvements in forestry use and changes at an environmental and economic level that will benefit the entire citizenry. This project aims to become a model of adaptation to climate change that can be exported to other cities and urban entities of similar size.
Before the end of this year, the project partners will meet with the monitor assigned by the European Commission for the overall evaluation of the project during 2018.
